Chapter 1310: A Single Thought Holds the Power of Life and Death
Chapter 1310: A Single Thought Holds the Power of Life and Death
The other two kidnappers panicked as well. Looking at the endless desert, they were so shocked that they started swearing.
"Fuck!"
"We were just having hot pot in the warehouse, how did we end up in this godforsaken place in the blink of an eye after Lin Lang and Liu Rusi suddenly appeared?"
"Boss... this... this seems to be a desert?"
"desert?!"
The kidnapper leader was completely stunned.
"From Male Gobi!"
"How can this godforsaken place be so hot, and there's no water? We'll either die of thirst or be baked to death by the sun!"
"Uh……"
The three kidnappers then realized the seriousness of the situation.
As soon as they finished speaking, a gust of scorching hot wind swept by, carrying fine sand that stung their faces.
"Yes!"
"This damn place has no water and no food!"
"There wasn't even anything to block out the sun. All we could see was golden sand and blinding sunlight. Were we doomed?"
Despair overwhelmed them instantly, like a tidal wave.
"Boss... Boss, have we... have we encountered a ghost? How did we end up in the desert in the blink of an eye?"
"One of the kidnappers said in a trembling voice."
The kidnapper leader swallowed hard, looking at the endless desert with a look of fear on his face.
"Damn it, how would I know?"
His voice also began to tremble.
The scorching hot wind was still blowing, and the stinging sensation of the fine sand hitting the kidnappers' faces had not yet faded when Lin Lang, the clone, deactivated his invisibility and appeared in front of them.
"Fuck!"
"Boss, it's Lin Lang!"
The three kidnappers were startled by the sudden appearance of Lin Lang's clone.
The clone Lin Lang was completely unaffected by the scorching desert sun, with his left hand casually in his pocket and his right hand deliberately holding a bottle of mineral water.
A mischievous smirk played on his lips as he slowly unscrewed the bottle cap, deliberately making the "glug" sound of him drinking water clearly reach the ears of the three kidnappers.
After taking a big gulp of water, Lin Lang, the clone, didn't forget to smack his lips.
"Welcome to the Sahara Desert no-man's-land in 1988." His voice wasn't loud, but it carried a coolness that pierced through the hot wind.
"So, what do you three think of the burial site I chose for you? It's called sand burial, all-natural, pollution-free, and it saves you the cost of cremation."
"Uh..." The youngest kidnapper shrank back in fright, his voice cracking, "You... are you a human or a ghost?"
"What methods did you use to get us into the desert?"
Lin Lang, the clone, grinned mischievously, "You're Ah Zhu's boyfriend, right? You'll be able to meet her in the underworld later."
"You...you fucking killed Ah Zhu? I'll fight you to the death!"
The kidnapper who was speaking pulled out a dagger from his back waist and viciously stabbed at Lin Lang, who was now in a clone.
"Hmph... Let's see if your dagger is faster, or my gun is faster?" Shen Lang suddenly took out a pistol from his personal space and angrily pointed it at the other party.
"Uh..." The kidnapper holding the dagger cowered in an instant.
The kidnapper leader's face turned ashen as he stared at the pistol in Lin Lang's right hand, his throat bobbing involuntarily, and cold sweat instantly soaked the back of his clothes.
"What...what exactly do you want? We have no grudge against you, we just want to make some money..."
"No enmity?" The clone Lin Lang chuckled, took another sip of the mineral water in his left hand, and deliberately slowed down the movement of his Adam's apple.
"When you kidnapped my lover's daughter, you should have known this would happen today. Now you're scared? It's too late."
He shook the bottle of mineral water in his hand, and the water droplets on the bottle fell onto the sand, where they were instantly swallowed by the scalding sand, leaving only a shallow wet mark.
"Uh..." The kidnapper leader was dumbfounded.
Lin Lang, the clone, raised an eyebrow and grinned mischievously, "I'm going to give you a little lesson on how you'll die in the next dozen or so hours."
The three kidnappers trembled all over, their eyes glued to the bottle of water. They were sweating profusely, licking their lips incessantly, and even their breathing became rapid.
Ah Zhu's kidnapper boyfriend's legs went weak, and he knelt down, begging for mercy: "Don't kill me... I don't want to die!"
Ignoring his fear, Lin Lang, the clone, continued in that flippant yet cruel tone, "This is just the beginning. You're only feeling a little thirsty and your skin is burning from the sun, right?"
"If you hold on for another two hours, your thirst will turn into an unbearable itch, your throats will feel like they're stuffed with cotton, and it will be difficult to even speak."
"The dizziness will get worse and worse, and walking will feel like walking on cotton, swaying and staggering."
He paused, looking at the kidnappers' increasingly pale faces, and said, "In two hours, or four hours, you'll start to feel nauseous, wanting to vomit but unable to, just dry heaving."
"My skin will turn as red as a boiled shrimp, feel incredibly hot to the touch, and my heart will beat so fast it'll feel like it's going to jump out of my chest, probably over 120 beats per minute."
"At that time, you won't even be able to urinate. Even if you do, it will be a tiny bit of dark yellow urine, as the last bit of water in your body will be squeezed out."
"Stop...stop talking..." The other kidnapper finally couldn't hold on any longer and knelt down on the sand with a "plop," tears mixed with cold sweat streaming down his face.
"Please let us go!"
"Please take us back! We'd rather go to jail than die in the desert without anyone to collect our bodies!"
Lin Lang, the clone, glanced at him, his smile growing colder: "What's the rush? The best is yet to come."
"After six hours, your body temperature will soar to over 39 degrees Celsius, and you'll be so dizzy that you'll have hallucinations, like a river suddenly appearing in front of you, or a small shop selling water. Unfortunately, they're all fake."
"Your skin will lose its elasticity, and when you press it with your hand, it will leave a dent that doesn't bounce back for a long time."
"My muscles will start to cramp, and they will hurt in waves, making it hard to even stand up."
Upon hearing this, the kidnapper leader finally realized the threat of death. Cold sweat streamed down his face, instantly evaporating on the sand.
The other kidnapper was trembling uncontrollably, his eyes glazed over, repeatedly muttering, "I don't want to die, I want to go home..."
Lin Lang, the clone, continued, "In about eight hours, you will enter a state of heatstroke, with your body temperature exceeding forty degrees Celsius, which is a fatal temperature."
"Then, your skin will turn from red to pale, and your breathing will become rapid and shallow, as if you can't breathe."
"Your consciousness will begin to blur, your speech will become incoherent, and your hallucinations will become more and more real. You may see your family members, or you may be drinking a pile of sand as if it were water."
The kidnapper, kneeling on the ground, cried even harder. He crawled forward two steps, trying to reach the bottled water in Lin Lang's hand, but was kicked away by him.
"I haven't finished speaking yet."
"Ten hours later, you will be unconscious, your skin will become cold and sticky, your blood pressure will drop rapidly, and your heart will beat fast and weakly, possibly stopping at any time."
"Organs like the kidneys and liver will gradually fail, just like a machine with broken parts that can never be repaired."
Upon hearing this, the kidnapper leader collapsed onto the sand in despair, his face filled with utter hopelessness and despair!
The clone Lin Lang was still talking with a wicked smile.
"While you are unconscious, your breathing will become weaker and weaker until it stops, and your heart will also stop beating."
"Finally, in about fifteen to twenty-four hours, you will be completely dead in the latter half of tonight."
"After you die, your bodies will quickly dehydrate under the sun, your skin will become dry and tight, and you will become mummies in a few days, forever left in this Sahara Desert, undiscovered and unmourned."
After saying that, Lin Lang drank the last drop of water from the mineral water bottle, then casually tossed the empty bottle onto the sand with a soft "thud".
The three kidnappers were so frightened that they were limp, their faces ashen, and cold sweat poured down their faces like broken beads. They could only beg for mercy and mutter "water" without being able to say anything else.
They stared intently at the empty water bottle, their eyes filled with despair and resentment.
But in this boundless desert, their pleas and desires, like the water in that bottle, had long been swallowed up without a trace.
"Goodbye, no time for a handshake, best of luck to you both!"
After saying that, the clone was recalled by the system after completing the task, as if it had only done a trivial little thing.
The figure of Lin Lang, the clone, vanished as abruptly as it had appeared, leaving not a trace.
Only the empty mineral water bottle remained, rolling twice on the scorching sand in the hot wind before finally coming to rest beside a sparse patch of sea buckthorn.
The three kidnappers stood frozen in despair, their faces contorted with grief, and it took them a long while to recover.
"He... he's just gone like that? This guy is so damn weird!" The young kidnapper's voice trembled.
The kidnapper leader slumped onto the sand, his face drained of all color. His eyes were vacant as he stared in the direction where his clone, Lin Lang, had disappeared, muttering to himself, "It's over, it's over!"
"We're all doomed in this endless desert!"
Ah Zhu's kidnapper boyfriend bit his lip tightly, his gaze sweeping across the vast sea of sand, his eyes suddenly lighting up.
He saw several glass bottles lying crookedly beside a sand pile not far away; they were the beer bottles they had left over from drinking in the warehouse!
It was brought over with me when I traveled through time.
One of the bottle necks was still covered in foam, and the bottle body was filled with a small amount of amber-colored liquid, which gleamed alluringly in the bright sunlight.
"Beer! It's beer!" he roared, as if grasping at a straw, and scrambled toward the beer bottle.
The shout was like a thunderclap, instantly waking up the other two kidnappers.
"Mine! That's what I left over!"
The young kidnapper reacted the fastest, staggering forward, his eyes fixed on the half-empty bottle of beer, as if it weren't just beer, but a life-sustaining spring.
The kidnapper leader also sprang up from the ground, his previous despair replaced by the instinct to survive.
He shoved aside the young kidnapper blocking his way and roared, "Get the hell out of my way! This bottle of wine is mine!"
"Fuck you!"
"At a time of life and death, you still want to be the boss, huh?"
The three kidnappers immediately began to wrestle, punching, kicking, and biting each other, fighting desperately.
What about chivalry and honor?
Brotherhood?
All of that is bullshit in the face of this half-bottle of beer.
The young kidnapper was kicked in the stomach by the boss and curled up on the sand in pain, but he still clung tightly to the boss's trouser leg, crying out, "Let go! I want to drink too! I don't want to die!"
Ah Zhu's kidnapper boyfriend seized the opportunity to rush to the beer bottle and reach out to grab it, but the boss punched him in the face, causing blood to gush out of his nose instantly.
He covered his face, a crazed red light flashing in his eyes, and suddenly lunged back, biting the boss's arm hard.
"Ah—you fucking crazy!" The boss screamed in pain and punched him in the face with his backhand. The pain made him see stars, and he took the opportunity to snatch the half bottle of beer.
The kidnapper leader gripped the beer bottle tightly, as if it were his own life, and turned to run away, but was grabbed from behind by the younger kidnapper who had recovered.
"Put down your beer! Give me a sip! Just one sip!"
The young kidnapper's voice was choked with sobs as he desperately tried to snatch the bottle from his boss's hand, his fingernails digging deep into the boss's hand, leaving several bloody marks.
Ah Zhu's kidnapper boyfriend, who had been knocked down, got up, glaring angrily with his fierce eyes, his gaze as ferocious as a wild beast. He picked up an empty beer bottle from the ground and smashed it against the back of the boss's head.
With a muffled thud, the empty bottle shattered. The leader groaned, his head spinning, and the beer bottle slipped from his hand and fell onto the sand.
Ah Zhu's kidnapper boyfriend grabbed the half-empty bottle of beer and was about to chug it down his throat.
"Don't fucking drink it all at once! Leave some for me!" The young kidnapper was so anxious that tears streamed down his face. He suddenly pounced on Ah Zhu's kidnapper boyfriend and knocked him to the ground.
The beer bottle tilted, and the beer spilled out of the neck, landing on the scorching sand with a sizzling sound. It evaporated instantly, leaving only a shallow wet patch and a faint smell of alcohol.
"Holy shit! You're asking for it!"
The kidnapper leader, his head bleeding profusely, looked at the spilled beer with tears welling in his eyes. He got up from the ground and lunged at his two accomplices again.
The three men, like three mad dogs, tore at and beat each other under the scorching sun of the Sahara Desert, all for the sake of a life that had long since vanished.
Ironically, the last half bottle of beer was basically spilled into the desert, and nobody got to drink it.
There's only one outcome awaiting them: an eco-friendly sand burial, saving them the cost of a coffin...
