Chapter 1464 The Frog That Doesn't Hibernate (Part 1)

In the Nohara family's yard, a cold wind was blowing. Shiro couldn't stand the cold air and got up to run towards the glass door, scratching at it repeatedly. Its meaning was clear: it wanted to go inside because it was too cold outside.

Mingxu was on the second floor and didn't notice Xiaobai's actions. On the first floor, there was hardly anyone around. Meiya was washing dishes in the kitchen when she suddenly felt a gaze upon her: "Someone is watching me!"

"Mom, have you forgotten you're under the table? If you lift it up now, you'll bump into something." Mingxu said helplessly, looking at Meiya's clumsy behavior.

"Ah, I almost forgot..." Misae said somewhat awkwardly, then remembered the topic from earlier: "Right, shouldn't frogs usually hibernate at this time of year? Why is this frog..."

Xiao Xinyan asked curiously, "What is hibernation?"

Mingxu explained simply, "It's just that they sleep in winter. Animals like frogs, snakes, and bears hibernate in winter and rely on sleeping to maintain their survival."

“Yes, I remember frogs should spend the whole winter in the mud,” Misae added.

"Huh? You'll die if you sleep that long!" Little News said, shaking his head with some dissatisfaction as he placed the frog on his head.

"It won't die. Didn't I just say that bears and snakes also hibernate?" Mingxu shook his head, looked at Xiaoxin, patted him on the shoulder, and suddenly looked towards the yard. When Xiaobai noticed Mingxu looking over, its eyes lit up and it started scratching at the glass door again.

"Mom, it's so cold, can we let Xiaobai in?" Mingxu turned to Meiya and asked.

"Huh? Oh, so that's what Shiro meant. Okay, but remember to clean your paws." Misae paused for a moment, remembering the look Shiro had given her earlier, and then felt a little embarrassed. She realized she had misunderstood Shiro.

"Okay." Mingxu nodded, walked into the washroom, picked up a towel specially used for Xiaobai's bath, soaked it in hot water, and waved to Xiaobai on the other side of the glass door, signaling him to come to the main entrance.

Xiao Bai immediately understood and happily wagged its tail as it ran towards the front door. Ming Xu then opened the door and let Xiao Bai into the entrance hall. After wiping Xiao Bai's paws with a damp towel, Ming Xu let it into the house.

After entering the house, Xiaobai immediately became happy, as she no longer had to be exposed to the cold wind.

Shin-chan looked at Shiro, who was already curled up to the side, and asked curiously, "So, is Shiro going to hibernate?"

"Croak, croak~" the frog croaked twice more. Shin-chan looked at the frog and immediately became interested: "Can I keep it as a pet?"

“No,” Misae said without hesitation.

"Ah~ that was too fast..." Shin-chan said awkwardly.

Misae said in a serious tone, "It's best to keep living things in their natural state!"

"Squeeze the flesh from your back in to pretend it's a chest! And you can say you're keeping your face natural by putting all sorts of stuff on it!" Shin-chan seemed to have thought of something and started questioning Misae.

"Hiss~ Warrior." Mingxu looked at Xiaoxin and gave him a thumbs up in admiration.

“It’s not natural anymore! The frog needs to go back to nature!” Misae said, grabbing the frog off Shin-chan’s head and walking towards the yard. She opened the glass door and placed it on the wooden platform: “Go back to the soil.”

"..." Looking at the frog on the wooden platform, the group watched in silence as the frog was suddenly blown over by the cold wind.

"He looks a little pitiful..."

"It's so cold outside, let him come inside."

"Okay." Misae sighed, opened the glass door again, and brought the frog in. Shiro looked at the frog and shook his head. It wasn't hibernating at this time of year; it must have been playing for too long.

That evening, when Guangzhi returned home, he saw the frog in the house and was a little puzzled. After Mingxu briefly explained the situation to Guangzhi, Guangzhi sighed, "I forgot about the hibernating frog. It happens occasionally, like this little scatterbrain."
