Chapter 7 His thoughtfulness
Chapter 7 His thoughtfulness
Huo Sili paused slightly, and Jiang Qin stepped forward, intending to ask him where he had put the gift Xie Youan had given him.
Before she could finish speaking, a sudden, dull pain shot through her abdomen again, more intense than before, and Jiang Qin's face turned almost instantly pale.
She instinctively covered her abdomen to transfer heat and make herself more comfortable, and her waist was slightly bent.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the man pause for a moment and then stride forward. Jiang Qin looked up at him.
With a muffled thud as the door closed, Huo Sili's figure disappeared from her sight, cold and resolute.
"..." Actually, they were very close just now.
He only needed to tilt his head slightly to see her discomfort out of the corner of his eye, but he didn't.
He didn't even glance at her; that's probably the difference between the real person and the substitute.
Jiang Qin clutched her stomach for several seconds, her lips turning pale, forcing herself to pull herself out of her distress and regain her composure.
After the pain subsided, she went to the restroom to check and, confirming there were no signs of anything amiss, washed her hands and went to the staff canteen.
She had just sat down with her tray, intending to have a quiet meal, when several voices called out to her at the same time, "Secretary Jiang!"
Jiang Qin turned her head and saw that they were people from the R&D department. These people were also members of the technical team that released the new product today.
One of them left a deep impression on Jiang Qin; she was Wen Fangchan, the head of the R&D department and the person she had been working with on this new product project. Wen Fangchan was a gentle yet capable woman in her thirties, and Jiang Qin liked her very much.
"Minister Wen." Jiang Qin quickly returned the greeting and then smiled and greeted everyone.
Wen Fangchan spoke up, her tone concerned, "Secretary Jiang, are you alright? You didn't attend the press conference this morning. I asked President Huo, and he said you weren't feeling well."
Jiang Qin paused for a moment, then suddenly the image of the unlocked door she had seen when looking towards the bathroom that morning flashed into her mind.
The shouts I heard last night in Yunhai Huafu, in my half-awake state, echoed in my ears.
So, Horst thought she was unwell, which is why...
"Even though you're young, you can't stay up all night all the time. You need to get more rest."
With Wen Fangchan's voice still ringing in her ears, Jiang Qin abruptly pulled herself back to her senses.
"Okay, thank you for your concern, Sister Wen."
That's true, they're getting a divorce anyway, what's the point of her worrying about these things?
From the moment she learned that Horstley was using her as a substitute for his unrequited love, she knew there should be no future for her and this man.
The R&D team had finished their meal and were heading back to their department. They chatted for a few minutes and then left.
Jiang Qin started eating, and after a few moments she finished and was about to get up to put her plate away, her phone suddenly started vibrating continuously in her pocket.
Slightly puzzled, Jiang Qin took out her phone and saw that it was a message from Xie You'an.
[Jiang Qin, the gift was left at your company's front desk. Has the front desk contacted you? I had an urgent matter at the company this morning. I was going to message you after I delivered it, but I got busy and forgot.]
Upon seeing this message first, Jiang Qin pondered for a moment and was about to type a reply when Xie You'an sent another one.
Upon seeing the latest paragraph, Jiang Qin's eyes lit up, and her face instantly lit up with undisguised joy.
She has had a favorite painter since junior high school.
Later, during high school, she mentioned it to Xie Youan. In that conversation, Xie Youan told her that the envelope in the gift box didn't contain a love letter, but rather tickets to the Kyoto exhibition of the painter she liked.
The painter is very famous, and the tickets themselves are not expensive, but they are in high demand and very difficult to get.
The art exhibition was finally going to be held in her city, and she really wanted to go. However, the official sale of tickets last month was three times, and she tried to grab tickets in advance each time, but she failed to get any.
But to her surprise, Xie Youan gave her such a wonderful surprise today.
Jiang Qin was immediately in a great mood and sincerely thanked him, quickly replying to several messages.
Xie Youan sent a voice message. Jiang Qin opened it and heard his gentle and polite voice through her earphones, just like the one last night.
"If you like it, that's fine."
I love it! I really love it!
Jiang Qin couldn't even remember the last time she felt a sense of surprise.
She was truly happy and a little touched. She had almost forgotten that she had mentioned the painter to Xie You'an, but she never expected that he would not only remember her after so many years, but also thoughtfully prepare a gift for her.
It must have taken a lot of thought, time and effort to get those tickets. Jiang Qin thought about it and felt unworthy of them.
After thinking it over, Jiang Qin decided to invite Xie Youan to dinner. She edited a message and sent it.
I'd like to invite you to dinner. When are you free next week? Let me know, and we can schedule a time.
He was probably busy, because Xie Youan didn't reply to the message immediately. Jiang Qin waited for a while but didn't receive a reply, so she got up to put away the trays and prepared to go back to the president's office first.
The elevator arrived at the designated floor. Just as she was about to get off, her phone vibrated. Jiang Qin was about to unlock it to check when the elevator doors opened at the same time. A large group of people were gathered at the door, offering words of comfort.
A strong, almost pungent perfume scent wafted into Jiang Qin's nostrils, and she frowned.
Then he noticed the woman in front of him with permed and dyed big wavy hair, and raised an eyebrow slightly.
It was Liu Wenli. Ever since she joined the company, this person seemed to have a hard time getting along with her. Whenever she had to work with her, something would inevitably go wrong. At this moment, Liu Wenli was supporting a young girl and comforting her the most.
She seemed completely unaware that the elevator had opened, and that she was blocking the doorway.
"Sister Liu, Secretary Jiang is coming out, please move aside." Someone nudged her and said.
Liu Wenli then looked up and frowned, making way for her, but his eyes remained fixed on her.
Seeing the anger in the woman's eyes, Jiang Qin was puzzled, but she didn't say anything and got out of the elevator first.
"What happened?" he asked.
"what happened?"
Liu Wenli gave a sarcastic snort and suddenly raised her voice.
"Secretary Jiang, look what you've done! Look what your intern has done! She's beaten someone so badly their nose is bleeding!"
Jiang Qin's beautiful eyebrows suddenly furrowed.
Liu Wenli continued, "It's unbelievable! Rude! Uncultured!"
Someone chimed in, "Exactly! I don't know how someone like that got into the company. If word got out, it would be on the news!"
Jiang Qin glanced at the speaker and recognized him as someone from Liu Wenli's department.
Looking more closely at the girl being supported by Liu Wenli, Jiang Qin noticed that the girl was covering her nose with a tissue and her long hair was covering most of her face. However, after careful observation, Jiang Qin recognized her as Li Nana, an intern trained by Liu Wenli.
He was recently on the list of candidates for permanent positions.
However, an anonymous colleague reported that Liu Wenli appeared outside the window during Li Nana's assessment and saw her holding up her phone, seemingly giving Li Nana answers and suggesting that the interns be retested.
She sent an email to Horstley requesting a retest, as per procedure, but Horstley has not yet approved it.
"What, Secretary Jiang still doesn't believe me?" Liu Wenli raised her voice, perhaps because she hadn't heard her speak.
She seemed to laugh in exasperation, glancing around at her surroundings.
"Secretary Jiang, we all saw it! It was your intern who pushed Nana, causing her nose to bleed! You're not saying anything, are you trying to cover for her?!"
