[The Black Prison Race is approaching, carrying a negative energy storm that stirs wicked thoughts. Please maintain a positive mindset and kill at least one member of the Black Prison Race.]

’A negative energy storm?’

’What in the world is going on?’

Yue Xin stared, stunned and bewildered, at the countless Shadows swirling within the black storm on the distant horizon. He was not taking this well.

’What’s my situation?’

’A blank-slate character, and they want me to kill Extraordinary Creatures?’

’Even if some of these Extraordinary Creatures are weak, they can’t be that easy to kill, right?’

Furthermore, on the forums for Yue Xin’s batch of a million new Players, information about the Black Prison Race was pitifully scarce.

After all, every Player had only just been dropped into this world.

Even if some Players were role-playing high-status characters, the newbie Player forums had absolutely no information about the Black Prison Race whatsoever!

It was as if no one in the entire world had ever heard of the Black Prison Race.

In fact, based on the available information, no Player in this world had yet discovered the existence of any Transcendents.

’What the hell?’

’Could this be a world without magic?’

’But what are these so-called members of the Black Prison Race, then?’

’Is the start of the game really this brutal?’

To be honest, Yue Xin really wanted to run.

But the black storm in the distance was already rapidly approaching the sky above the small village.

"Huh? Why did the sky suddenly get so dark?"

"A big storm’s coming! Quick! Everyone, pack up and get home before the rain starts!"

"..."

The villagers toiling in the fields all looked up at the sky.

But all they could see was the sight of a sky thick with dark clouds.

Not only could they not see the Spirit Bodies of the Black Prison Race, but they also couldn’t see the massive, swirling black storm that was already nearing the village!

So, in their eyes, this was just a normal change in the weather!

Meanwhile, as the black storm enveloped the sky above the village, Yue Xin stood dumbfounded in his doorway, watching as countless transparent, seemingly ecstatic phantoms swooped into the village one after another.

These intangible phantoms varied in form; some resembled bats, some looked like ethereal human figures, and others took the shape of different beasts.

In short, these so-called Spirit Bodies of the Black Prison Race were constantly and randomly changing their forms.

Honestly, Yue Xin’s impression of this so-called Black Prison Race was that they were just like Ghosts and Undead.

They rushed into the human village.

Their formless, insubstantial bodies passed through houses and through the bodies of ordinary people, having no effect on any real person or object.

If one had to point out an effect, it would be that people and things they passed through might have felt a light breeze blow by!

These traits were strikingly similar to the characteristics of Undead and Ghosts as described in the Star Empire.

In the Star Empire, such things as Undead and Ghosts all fell under the jurisdiction of the God of the Dead and his subordinate Priests and Clergy.

Furthermore, these beings were not permitted to appear on the surface of the Material Realm.

Any and all Undead or Ghosts, upon discovery, would be purified or redeemed by the Priests and Clergy and guided into the Divine Kingdom of the God of the Dead.

Normal living beings do not become Undead or Ghosts after death. The phenomenon of becoming an Undead or a Ghost mostly occurs with beings who harbor intense negative emotions like hatred.

As for normal living beings, the Spiritual essence that dissipates at the moment of death is mostly absorbed by the Mana Will.

Therefore, the idea of believers ascending to a Divine Kingdom after death was, for the most part, just a saying to comfort mortals.

Because the world would always belong to ordinary mortals.

And when ordinary mortals died, the power of their souls and their Spiritual essence was exceedingly weak.

So, in the first moments after an ordinary being’s death, most of its Spiritual essence would instantly disintegrate into nothingness.

Even if a few dregs of Spiritual essence remained, they would be far from enough to sustain the continuation of personal consciousness.

Thus, after an ordinary person died, these few scattered dregs of Spiritual essence would ultimately just become nourishment for the Mana Will.

Of course, the matter of believers ascending to a Divine Kingdom after death did happen.

But this was mostly limited to those who were High Tier, or even Saint Tier.

This was because only when these mighty Transcendents died would their powerful Spiritual Power automatically consolidate their Soul Power. This prevented the Soul Power from ’evaporating’ or dissipating, allowing them to retain their personal consciousness intact.

Therefore, only these beings of High Tier and above had the opportunity to be drawn into a Divine Kingdom by the power of a god.

There, they would become the god’s Prayerers.

So, under normal circumstances, unless a person possessed an obsession born from extreme unwillingness to die, it was difficult for an ordinary person to become a negative-energy Undead or Ghost creature.

After all, obsession alone wasn’t enough; the location of their death also needed to have a large amount of ’negative energy’.

In short, without a ’heritage,’ it was difficult for an ordinary person to become an Undead Creature, even if they died harboring intense resentment.

As for the possibility of a Strong Person becoming an Undead Creature after death?

That was impossible.

At least, not on the Oakland Continent, and not according to the many years of research in the Star Empire.
